Just a word about knowledge, science, aim. I came to a short thinking that could represent my view about epistemology. This statement is strictly valid for now and probably for next week, and is inspired by several books (and mostly "what is science" by Alan Chalmers). Indeed, ideas keep on moving and oscillating. My position is easily changing.

For now, I see the science like the painting by Magritte (which is actually my favourite one): Le château des Pyrénées.

Science is a rock. This rock floats on we-do-not-know-exactly-what but solid enough to keep the rock in air. The rock extends vertically towards the sky. Scientists probably live in the castle and they try to understand the world or more precisely to understand the sensitive world (thanks to measurement devices).

The problem is that they do not know exactly what "understanding" means.

Is "finding concepts and the mechanics between them" sufficient to say "we understand" ?

First problem: Scientists do not know what to search for.

Second problem (which is even worse): Scientists make discoveries.
