Between these two pictures: 55 years.
1965: Mariner 4 mission - The first one was the hand drawing Mars landscape. The NASA engineers were too impatient to see what Mars looks like in colors. They printed the numbers and using a table of correspondance, they colored by hand the pictures. 2020: Curiosity mission- Fifty-five years after, the NASA engineers spent a lot of time to render the right color to the high resolution picture.
Both pictures are amazing to me and reveal the very spirit of research from the experimentalist point of view. Finally, both pictures look like un-real and fascinating.
